About

Ultimate is one of the fastest-growing team sports in Sydney: no gear, no physical contact, mixed teams as standard, and you can go from never having played to finishing a full game in one afternoon.

We meet on grass at a park and split into teams by headcount. First-timers do not need to study the rules — we run through them in the ten minutes before kick-off and correct as we go. Nobody gets annoyed at you for travelling.

How the game works

  • Seven a side, played on grass on a pitch roughly the size of a rugby field
  • You advance by passing the disc; a point is scored when a teammate catches it inside the opposition end zone
  • Whoever holds the disc cannot run — you pivot on one foot and throw to a teammate
  • If the disc hits the ground, goes out of bounds or is intercepted, possession flips immediately
  • No physical contact at any point — any collision is a foul
  • There are no referees. Disputes are settled on the field by the players themselves under the Spirit of the Game, which values fair play over working the rulebook

How it works

  • Fill in the form below — you do not need a group to sign up
  • We add you to the activity group on WeChat
  • The group votes on a time and a venue nearby
  • Numbers are confirmed the day before, and we go once we have enough people

What to bring

  • Trainers or turf shoes are fine — studs are not needed
  • Bring one light and one dark top so we can split teams on the spot
  • Sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water — the Sydney sun is stronger than it feels
  • Discs are provided and park pitches are usually free, so this one costs next to nothing
